Getting Started Connections Playback Specifications
Basic Operations Memo Function
Utility
The DN-S1200 offers the utilities described below.
DB Create:
A database is created on the external USB memory device connected
to the DN-S1200. This makes it possible to search for MP3/WAV files
on the DN-S1200.
Preset Data:
Saves the presettings along with data on a device and reads out the
presettings. Selects the Power On Play playlist.
Memo Data:
This function allows you to store CD memo data onto and import the
data from a device.
It can also be used to delete the internal CD memo data.
Memo Data:
This utility can be used to format the external USB memory device
connected to the DN-S1200. It can also be used to restore the
presettings and memo data to the factory defaults.
Utilitymode

When in the standby or pause mode or when no le is
selected, press and hold in the UTILITY button for at
least 1 second to enter the Utility mode.

Use the PARAMETERS knob to select the utility item.

Press the UTILITY button to turn the Utility mode off.
DB Create
A database is created on the external USB memory device
connected to the DN-S1200. This makes it possible to
search for MP3/WAV files on the DN-S1200.

At the top menu in the Utility mode, turn the
PARAMETERS knob or Scratch disc and select “DB
Create”.
b This cannot be selected if no external
USB memory device is connected.

Press the PARAMETERS button again to enter.
The “DB Create” list is displayed.
Setting the Database Edit Mode
NOTE
When a database has already been created on the external USB
memory device, the database is reset. Playlists that have been created
are also deleted.

At the top menu in the DB Create, turn the
PARAMETERS knob or Scratch disc select “Full
Create”.
The database creation mode is set.

Conrm whether or not you want to create the
database.
When OK” is selected:
The database is created on the external USB memory device.
The progress is displayed.
When “Cancel” is selected:
The screen in step 1 reappears.
The database is not created on the external USB memory device.
The screen returns to as it was in step 1.
Creating Databases
Creating Temporary Databases
Use this procedure to create a database searchable by file
name only.
This database can be created faster than a full database.
b Searching using ID3 Tag data is not possible.

At the top menu in the DB Create, turn the

“Temporary”.

Conrm whether or not you want to create the
database.
When OK” is selected:
The temporary database is created on the external USB memory
device. The progress is displayed.
When “Cancel” is selected:
The temporary database is not created on the external USB
memory device. The screen returns to as it was in step 1.
NOTE
File name searching is not possible with iPods, so the temporary
database cannot be used.
