The accessory Remote Control Unij: is used to conl’ral the amplifier fr-om a convenient distance.
I. Remove the battery cover on the Remote Contr-ol Unit.

2. Insert two dry cell batteries as shown in the diagram on
the battery
supply
unit.
3. Replace the battery cover.
RC-858 uses the size HO3 (MA) dry cell batteries.
The baj:leries will need to be replaced approximately once a
year. This will depend upon how often the Remote Control
Unit is (Ised.
If, in less than a year from tho time new batteries were
inserted, the Remote Control Utnit fails to operate the Amplifier
front a near-by position, it is time to replace the batteries.
(The included battery is only for verifying operation. Replace i’j:
with a new battery as soon as possible.)
Insert the battories properly, -following the polarity diagram
inside lhe battery cornpariment.
Eatteries are prone to damage and leakage. Therefore:
$3 Do not mix new batteries with used ones.
a Do not mix different types of battories.
0 Do rrot jumper opposite poles of ihe batteries, expose them
to heat, break then open, nor expose them to open fire
If the batteries have leaked, remove any traces of battery fluid
ftom the battery compartment wiping thoroughly with a dry
cloth. Then insert new batteries.
Q Operate the Remote Control Unit while pointing it towards the
Remote Control Sensor on ihe AmpliFier as shown in the
diagram on the left.
0 The Remote Contr-ol Unit can be used at distances up to aboui
8 meters in a straight line from the amplifier. This distance will
decrease if there at-e ohstructiorrs blocking the infra-r-ed light
transmission or if the Remote Control Unit is not directed
slraight at the ampliher.
Do not press the operating buttons on the Amplifier and the Rornote Control Unit at the same time. This will cause rnisoperation.
a Operation of the Remote Control Unit will become less effective 01. er-ratic if the infrared &mote Control Sensor on the Amplifier is
exposed to strong light or if there are obstructions between the Remote Control IJnit and the sensor.
0 In case you operate a VCR, TV or other components by remote control, do not operate buttons on tvvo cliiferent remote control units
at the same time. This will cause misoperation.
