DVD/VCR Combos
Get both DVD and VCR playback from one box
DVD/VCR combo units
deliver double functionality
in one space-saving compo-
nent, and are very easy to
set up and use. Consider
a combination model if
you’re ready to step up to DVD but also want to keep the
ability to view and record in VHS. If, on the other hand,
youd prefer the clarity of digital disc-based recording,
you might consider a DVD recorder (see page 93).
A connection for any TV
Each of these players offers an RF output, for hookup
to an older TV with only an antenna-
style RF jack. But if your TV has
separate audio and video inputs, you
can enjoy even better-looking playback
via a composite video connection or,
for DVD, a higher-quality S-video or
component video connection.

This box really rocks! The HR-XVC20 is a space-efficient
way to add both VHS and DVD playback to any home
A/V system. Connect the optical digital output to your

In addition to DVDs, this player can handle your
CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, and even play recordable
