The mode switches as shown below each time the INPUT
MODE button is pressed.

Note on playing a source encoded with DTS
Noise may be generated at the beginning of playback and
while searching during DTS playback in the AUTO mode. If
so, play in the DTS mode.

Input mode selection function
Different input modes can be selected fer the different input sources.
The selected input medes for the separate input sources are stored in
the memery.
_1 AUTO (auto mede)
In this mede, the types ef signals being input to the digital and
analog input jacks for the selected input source are detected and
the pregram in the AVR-2805/985's surreund decoder is selected
automatically upon playback. This mode can be selected fer all
input sources other than PHONe and TUNER.
The presence er absence ef digital signals is detected, the signals
input to the digital input jacks are identified and decoding and
playback are performed automatically in DTS, Delby Digital er PCM
(2 channel stereo) format. If no digital signal is being input, the
analeg input jacks are selected.
Use this mode to play Dolby Digital signals.
_2_PCM (exclusive PCM signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are enly performed when PCM signals are
being input.
Note that noise may be generated when using this mode te play
signals other than PCM signals.
_3+:DTS (exclusive DTS signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are enly perfermed when DTS signals are
being input.
_4] ANALOG (exclusive analeg audio signal playback mode)
The signals input to the analog input jacks are played.
_5] EXT. IN (external deceder input jack selection mode)
The signals being input te the external deceder input jacks are
played without passing through the surround circuitry.
NOTE:
Note that noise will be eutput when CDs er LDs recorded in DTS
fermat are played in the "PCM" (exclusive PCM signal playback) or
"ANALOG" (exclusive PCM signal playback) mode. Select the
AUTO er DTS mode when playing signals recorded in DTS frem a
laser disc player or CD player.
