Before assuming there is a malfunction
Check the following before assuming there is a malfunction with the set.
When a pertinent item cannot be found in this table, the problem may be due to a fault with this unit. Switch off the power, disconnect the power
plug from the outlet, remove the batteries, and contact your store of purchase.
Symptom
Power does not turn on.
Buttons do not operate.
Card error message is
displayed.
Current file cannot be played.
Recording is not possible.
Linear PCM recording is not
possible.
Power turns off during
recording.
Sound of microphone cannot
be recorded.
No sound is produced from
speaker.
Possible cause/things to check
Batteries are worn.
AC adaptor is not securely connected.
Power has been turned off with the auto power off
Power is off.
KEY HOLD switch is turned on.
Card has been ejected while it was being accessed.
Card is not of the recommended type.
Format is not compatible.
Card data is damaged.
File is damaged.
File format is not compatible with the DN-F20R.
Files with bit rates or compression/decompression
formats other than the ones usable on the DN-F20R
cannot be played, even if they have the extension
“MPG” or “WAV”.
File is too small.
It may not be possible to play short files.
Card is not of the recommended type.
Other cause.
In some cases Linear PCM recording is not possible
due insufficient speed of the card itself.
Batteries are worn.
The power turns off automatically several minutes
after the battery warning mark appears.
INPUT SELECTOR switch is set to “LINE”.
REC LEVEL control is set to the minimum.
The microphone is not properly connected.
Recording or recording pause mode is set.
The speaker is turned off while in record and record
pause modes.
MONITOR VOL. control is set to the minimum.
Solution
Replace the batteries.
Check the connection.
Press the power switch again.
Turn the power back on.
Turn the KEY HOLD switch off.
Turn the power off then back on.
Use a card of the recommended type.
Format the card on the DN-F20R.
Either format the card on the DN-F20R (note
that this will erase any data on the card) or
erase the file using a PC, etc.
Use a card of the recommended type.
Check the notes in the “Recording” section
once again.
Change the presetting to “MPEG”.
Use a different card.
Replace the batteries.
Set the INPUT SELECTOR switch to “MIC”.
Raise the recording level.
Connect the microphone properly.
Raise the monitor volume.
