Playing ﬁles that have been Registered in Your

Favorites

Files can be preset, registered in your favorites and played using the

same operations as for Internet radio stations.

NOTE

• When the operation described below is performed, the music

server’s database is updated and it may no longer be possible to play

or favorite music ﬁles.

• When you quit the music server and then restart it.

• When music ﬁles are deleted or added on the music server.

• When using an ESCIENT server, place “ESCIENT” before the server

name.

Playing Files Stored on USB Memory

Devices

Only USB memory devices conforming to mass storage

class and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) standards can be

played on the S-302.

Basic Operation

Make the necessary preparations.

•

Set the USB port to be used.

“NET/USB”-“USB” (vpage 17)

• Connect the USB memory device to the set USB port.

Use [ui] to select “USB”, then press [ENTER] or

[p].

Use [ui] to select the search item or folder, then

press [ENTER] or [p].

A “ ” mark is indicated in front of music ﬁles that can be

played, and a “ ” mark is indicated in front of image ﬁles that

can be played.

Use [ui] to select the le, then press [ENTER] or

[p].

Playback starts once buffering reaches “100%”.

Depending on the size of the still picture (JPEG) ﬁle, some time may

be required for the ﬁle to be displayed.

Playing repeatedly

Press [REPEAT] on the remote control unit.

Playing in random order

Press [RANDOM] on the remote control unit. (Only valid in the stop

mode)

Selecting tracks

During playback, either press [CHANNEL–] (previous track) or [CHANNEL+]

(next track).

• If the USB memory device is divided into multiple partitions, only the

top partition can be selected.

• The S-302 is compatible with MP3 ﬁles conforming to “MPEG-1

Audio Layer-3” standards.

NOTE

• DENON will take no responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage

to data on USB memory devices when using the USB memory

device connected to the S-302.

• USB memory devices will not work via a USB hub.

• DENON does not guarantee that all USB memory devices will operate

or receive power. When using a USB connection type portable hard

disk of the type for which power can be supplied by connecting an

AC adapter, we recommend using the AC adapter.

• It is not possible to connect and use a computer via the S-302’s USB

port using a USB cable.

• The S-302 is not compatible with the iPod shufﬂe.

• Connections to the required system and speciﬁc settings must be

made in order to play music ﬁles (vpage 15).

• Before starting, you must launch the computer’s server software

and set the ﬁles as server contents. For details, see the operating

instructions of your server software.

• Depending on the size of the still picture (JPEG) ﬁle, some time may

be required for the ﬁle to be displayed.

Selecting tracks

During playback, either press [8] (previous track) or [9] (next

track).

Playing a Portable Audio

Your portable audio player can be connected to the S-

302’s portable jack to play tracks on the portable audio

player.

Use <FUNCTION> or [AUX] to select “Front in”.

Play the portable audio player.

The Portable Audio are output.

Connect the S-302 and portable audio player using a separately sold

mini-stereo audio cable.
