If a problem should arise, ﬁrst check the following:

1. Are the connections correct?

2. Is the set being operated as described in the owner’s manual?

3. Are the other components operating properly?

If this unit does not operate properly, check the items listed in the table below. Should the problem persist, there may be a malfunction.

In this case, disconnect the power immediately and contact your store of purchase.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause Countermeasure Page

When the power is turned on,

the power indicator does not light

and no sound is produced.

• The power cord’s plug is not fully plugged in. • Check the insertion of the power cord plug

and connect securely.

The power indicator lights but

no sound is produced.

• The position of the input selection button is

inappropriate.

• The volume is turned all the way down.

• The mute mode is set.

• Analog connection cables are not securely

connected.

• No digital signal is being input.

• Switch to the correct function (input).

• Press [VOLUME+] on the remote control

unit.

• Cancel the mute mode.

• Connect securely.

• Properly select a digital signal input source.

7, 8

No DTS sound isproduced. • DVD player’s audio output setting isn’t set to

bit stream.

• DVD player is not DTS-compatible.

• DHT-FS5’s input setting is set to analog.

• Use the DVD player’s default settings.

• Use a DTS-compatible player.

• Use a digital input.

No sound is produced from

subwoofer.

• Subwoofer’s output is not connected. • Connect securely. 8

Remote control unit does not

operate.

• The batteries are ﬂat.

• The remote control unit is too far away.

• There is an obstacle between the main unit

and the remote control unit.

• The batteries are inserted in the wrong

direction.

• Replace with new batteries.

• Operate from closer to the main unit.

• Remove the obstacle.

• Insert the batteries in the proper direction.

Other Functions

Analog Input Sensitivity Setting

Press and hold in [ANALOG (An)] for at least 3 seconds.

“Hi ( ) ” is shown on the display for about 5 seconds, and

the input sensitivity is set to +6 dB.

b When [ANALOG (An)] is pressed again and held in for at least 3

seconds, ”Lo ( ) “ is shown on the display for about 5 seconds,

and the input sensitivity is set to 0 dB.

b This mode is set to “Lo” upon purchase.

If the sound is distorted when the input sensitivity is set to “Hi”, set

it back to “Lo”.

Press and hold in [ON/STANDBY] for at least 3 seconds.

“Off ( ) ” is shown on the display for about 5 seconds, and the

auto power off function is canceled.

b When [ANALOG (An)] is pressed again for at least 3 seconds, “On

( ) ” is shown on the display for about 5 seconds, and the auto

power off function is set.

b This mode is set to “On” upon purchase.

Auto Power Off

The standby mode is set if there is no input for 10

minutes.

Depending on the device connected, the auto power off function may

not work. In this case, set the auto power off function to "Off" and turn

the DHT-FS5’s power off manually.

Press and hold in [SETUP] for at least 3 seconds.

“RESET ( ) ” is shown on the display for about 5 seconds, and the

settings are restored to as they were upon purchase.

Resetting the Microprocessor

This restores the various settings to as they were upon

purchase.
