• Slide the knob to turn the power on or off.

RS-232C serial connector
Connect the DN-F400 using the RS-232C straight cable supplied with the RC-F400S. (See
pages 6, and 15 to 18.)

• Connect the included AC power adaptor.

Filename display
• Displays the filename.

Track number display
• Displays the track number of a file being played and the total number of tracks.

Time display
• Displays ELAPSED (elapsed playback time) and REMAIN (remaining playback time).
• If the TIME button of the function buttons is pressed, the displayed item is switched.
• For more than 100 minutes, “99:59” is displayed.

Playback display
• Displays the playback status of the DN-F400 with an icon.
2 : Playback ; 8 : Pause ; 71 : Stop ; ¡ : FF ; 1 : FR
28 : Play the playback point repeatedly. (Press the ¡ button to release it.)

Function display
• TIME :
Press the corresponding function button to change the time display.
• FILE LIST :
Press the corresponding function button to play a file in file-list mode.
• HOT LIST : Press the corresponding function button to check the hot-start list.
• NOT PLAY : Press the corresponding function button to set the files that are not to be
played. This is not displayed in programmed playback mode.

FILE INFORMATION display
Information regarding a file is displayed. If there is no information, nothing is displayed.
• TITLE: The title of a file is displayed.
• ARTIST: The artist of a file is displayed.
• ALBUM: The album name of a file is displayed.
• SIZE: The file size is displayed.
• FORMAT: MP3 or WAV is displayed. (For MP3, the bit rate is also displayed, in kbps.)
• CHANNEL: STEREO or MONO is displayed.

Playback mode display
• Displays the playback mode currently set.

Progress bar
• Displays the playing point of a file.
